Donated by Mr Gregory Baron in memory of Pauline Steel.

This Pauline Steel Memorial Prize is awarded to the student who has given the best performance of a nominated work for solo violoncello or violoncello and piano or violoncello and other instrument. 

In 2012 the required repertoire is a performance of a major sonata or other substantial work for cello and piano.

Before entering this competition, please ensure you read both the specific and general conditions.

Conditions of Entry

  • The required repertoire should be a performance of a major sonata or other substantial work for cello and piano from the standard published repertoire, presenting a movement or movements of 8 - 15 minutes duration.
  • Timing of the works presented should be indicated on the application form along with the title and composer.

Relevant Dates

  • Applications to be submitted to the School of Music office by 4.30pm Friday 23 November
  • Competition to be held Monday 26 November in the Eileen Joyce Studio from 5pm - 7pm.
