Step One: Apply through
TISC
All Australian students must put in a TISC application form in
order to apply for a University course. Further information
can be obtained from the TISC
website, or by contacting them on + 61 (0) 8 9318 8000 or

Step Two: Audition
Auditions for courses at the School of Music are held in October/November. Students are required to prepare three
contrasting pieces, some technical work and are tested on their
aural skills. There is also a short interview in which
prospective students can discuss their plans for future music
study. Please note that late auditions can be arranged if
necessary. If students are unable to attend auditions in
person, it is possible to submit an audio or video tape, but
this must be accompanied by a certified letter that states the
authenticity of the recording.

Step Three:
Prerequisites
Pass in TEE English or
English Literature (or ESL if you are eligible);
A pass in TEE Music or equivalent. As a guide, all Bachelor of
Music students should have a standard comparable with at least
AMEB Grade 7 performance and AMEB Grade 5 theory or their
equivalent from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of
Music;
Applicants for performance courses must demonstrate a high
level of performance ability;
Applicants for composition courses must submit a composition

John Harding’s career as a soloist and chamber musician has taken him all over Australia, Europe and Asia and UWA Music is proud to welcome him back to the UMS series in 2008. As part of the UWA/WASO partnership, Concertmaster John Harding will perform as a featured soloist with the UWA Chamber Music Ensemble in a programme to include some of the finest repertoire for solo violin and string/chamber orchestra.
