Australian Music Studies

Three books have been produced on Australian composers of the twentieth century:

In addition to these projects, collections at the Callaway Centre Archive have provided significant historical resourses for investigation. These comprise the Sir Frank Callaway Collection, the Eileen Joyce Collection, the Hugh McMahon Collection, and the Handa Collection.

Some important digitisation and state-of-the-art archival storage and cataloguing of these materials has been achieved supported by the following significant grants:

These grants have clearly facilitated national links, placing the Callaway Centre Archive on a national grid in terms of academic archival research facilities. The existence of the archive has enabled the promotion of the University’s music scholarship in a special framework and provides a crucial bridge between public service provision, similar to the function of the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra, and academic research such as producing books, articles and conference presentations. Holding important national treasures keeps the School of Music in contact with peak bodies.
